The 2016-2017 School Year


The school year is off to a great start!  Here are just a few things your PTO donations have helped to provide.

  • Sponsored the Barefoot Puppets Assembly in conjunction with a grant from VCA (October 2016)
  • Assisted monetarily with the virtual Jamestown field trip (October 2016)
  • Provide appreciation items for staff (year round)
  • Purchased snacks for the students
  • Organized star student pizza parties monthly (Papa Johns sponsored)
  • Raised money for school through catalog fundraiser
  • Sponsored bounce houses for the school’s Fall Festival
  • Assisted librarians with book fair;  all proceeds benefit the library
  • Assisted with check in for Grandparent Day festivities
  • Sponsored dinner for staff on Open House night
  • Purchased wristbands to be given out to the Star Students each month

We have an open board position and need your help to fill it.  Please see the description below and send us an email ( if you have any questions or this interests you.

Program/Event Coordinator- Plans and organizes Trunk or Treat, Bingo Night, Book Fair volunteers and works to coordinate PTO sponsored assemblies.

banner_school 2All volunteers must complete and turn in a volunteer application before volunteering in our school.  The form is available by clicking HERE and downloading the form on the right sidebar.  Please fill one out and return to the school.


Ways to Help Our Schools

Throughout the year these programs allow us to provide much needed supplies and funds to help our schools! We appreciate your support!


Target Take Charge of Education ( Link Target REDcard: Choose Central Elementary as your school and Target will donate 1% of your REDcard purchases.

Papa Johns  Pizza First Wednesday of the month support your school with any purchase after 5pm. Just send label from pizza box back with your child to school.

Box Tops for Education Please clip on the dotted line around the box top coupon. Turn in your saved, clipped Box Tops by sending in with your child to school or turning into the main office. Please note, General Mills does not accept expired box tops. Sign up online to receive their newsletter which earns bonus box tops and watch your email for promotions to win even more box tops for the school. Check out the website to all see a list of participating products and to print out collection sheets to attach your box tops.

Campbell’s Labels for Education Clip the entire UPC code on participating products from the Campbell’s family of products and send to school with your child each month. YOUR SCHOOL earns points for each label, which can be used to purchase equipment for the school.

My Coke Rewards Collect Coke bottle caps and case codes and send to school with your child each month. Already got a My Coke Rewards account? Donate your points to Central Elementary. The school earns points, which can be used to purchase equipment for the school.

Tyson Project A+ Clip and save the entire Project A+™ label from participating Tyson products. Each label we collect is worth 24¢ for our school. Turn in labels with your child to school.

Amazon Smile For eligible purchases at AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price. Simply use the link or select Central Elementary as your charity (this benefits both Central and West Central) when shopping on Amazon!

Monticello Mulch will offer between November 24th- December 20th a donation of $5 per tree sold to anyone! All donations made will be split between West Central, Central, Carysbrook, and FMS! The PTO is hosting a staff appreciation week in December where we treat our wonderful staff to daily surprises. We are asking for your support in helping us make this possible. The PTO supports roughly 120 staff members! If you can donate any of the following items OR would like to make a monetary donation, please contact us at or send us a Facebook message. If you’d like to help assemble gifts or have ideas/donations for other gifts, we’d love your help as well.

Fall Update

A HUGE thanks to local businesses, parents, and staff who supported the PTO’s second annual Trunk or Treat!  It was a great success for Central and West Central! There were LOTS of smiling faces, great costumes, and amazing trunks!

The event will be located at the Fluvanna Middle School parking lot.
We are looking for volunteers to decorate their trunks and lots of candy donations! We are also looking for candy runners!
Candy can be turned into the school (labeled for trunk or treat) by October 22nd!

Book Fair supporting Central and West Central Primary Elementary Schools’ Library

September 8-16th Scholastic Book Fair.

This is a great event with ALL proceeds benefiting our great library! The librarians will need LOTS of cashier help and volunteers to help assist children and grandparents shopping. Book Fair volunteers are needed throughout the day and some evening hours. Please refer to our sign up genius to sign up. ANY amount of time is greatly appreciated!

Grandparents Day

September 8th-16th Grandparents Day

This is a wonderful event!  Grandparents can come and have lunch with their grandchild in the small cafeteria and enjoy a special time. They will also have the opportunity to shop the book fair with them. More information will be sent home regarding this great event. During this time both schools will need volunteers to help check-in grandparents at the front entrance as well as directing them. Below is a link to sign up.

Fall Festival

Help our school by selling raffle tickets, donating to the silent auction gift baskets, donating baked goods for the cake walk, and volunteering for a specific event at the festival.  Contact your child’s teacher for more information on how you can help!



Welcome Back!

Welcome back to school Central and West Central Primary Elementary!

The schools hosted a successful Business Night for parents on August 7th.  The PTO sponsored an Italian feast dinner from Sal’s at Lake Monticello for all the staff.  Thank you Sal’s!  The food was delicious and much appreciated.  The PTO also gave a welcome back treat of candy for the staff the first week of school.IMG_0790

We are looking forward to a GREAT year!  Our first PTO meeting will be held Tuesday, August 26th, at 6pm in the auditorium.  Please come and find out how YOU can get involved.
